Just want to say a huge thankyou for the help and advice i got on here and over PM's last year when i asked for experiences on stifle injections in an old horse.
Just wanted to update to say that although the first round in just one part of Scotties stifles didnt work, he has had the other parts injected on tuesday, so far no laminitis symptoms but obviously not holding our breath. He's on box rest for another 8 days, but is still looking really perky and was fairly well behaved for the injections themselves, although threw in an excited buck doing the trot ups beforehand!
The new vet who is treating him is possibly the best vet i have ever had the plesure of having to call out, he is very sympathetic but honest. He really likes my old boy and has been really encouraging calling him 'Mr Feisty' all the time, and has said that its a breath of fresh air for him to be working with an owner who actually wants to try for an old horse not just put him on bute without trying anything else.
Just wanted to say thankyou to you all for the encouragement too, i know being 32 years old he isnt going to last forever, but its really good to see him still looking spirited, healthy and energetic
Hopefully this next round works. If not, then he will be on bute with no more steroids, but atleast we will have tried.
Much love to you all. xx
