So my little mare dropped her foal on Tuesday morning, unfortunately there was obviously something wrong as the little girl wasnt happy about getting up.
Vet came and diagnosed that her knee caps are dislocated
Absolutely gutted doesnt even come close
So since then we have been on 3 hourly feeding visits to stand her up and make sure she is feeding.
The vet has said to give it two weeks and then decisions need to be made if no improvement which i dont even want to think about.
To be fair after 36 hours of thinking that nature couldnt poosibly just "fix" something that looks so horrendous the little lady has today decided that she can get herself up and has even had a couple of "shuffles" around the stable before flopping back down
A little bit of hope maybe
Just wondered if anyone has had any experience with this situation and what the outcomes were?? Also if anyone has considered ops for such issues?? I have dealt with many dogs with slipping patellas and subsequent ops but never a horse so have no idea what could be done or what the cost would be!!
