My just-turned-7 highland pony is lame- particularly on off hind but also slightly in near hind. This has possibly been grumbling problem for a while (pony has been out of character) that has just just come to a head. He doesn't want to walk down hills, walks unusually slowly and had started bucking in the school a couple of months ago. He has been in light work, I have had him about 2 years & he passed a 5 stage vetting when I bought him.
The vet spent an hour examining him top to toe and found effusions and pain in his stifles, particularly on the right. He is going to come back and xray but gave no indication of what might be going on which has left me very worried. There has been no history of trauma.
Any ideas? Thank you
