Area showjumping
Bill and I entered the Intermediate, which at the time of entering thought could be possibly slightly out of our comfort zone (its 1.05m) but I thought it would be good to push the boundaries a little at a competition, although doing so at our PC areas mightnt be the best place to try
Our area is very competitive at showjumping so much so that we have won every championship so it is always a tough course!
We were one of the first teams to go, we jumped the same as the Open track except smaller, so was proper showjumping technical (none of this eventing figure of 8
) and started at 1m. Billy was jumping FAB definitely the best so far this year. Round was interesting Billy was jumping really well, the jockey not so much
Thanks to me, we had 3 poles down (which was actually not bad considering what others got!) due to me getting him a little deep in the related distances & not quite enough strength behind to push out of, but boy did he try!
Very pleased with him; he didnt back off any fences and took me to every one!
The second round was up to height and appeared much stronger he jumped an even better round (helps that the jockey was actually riding this time
) very rhythmical and only one down so I was over the moon as it was the biggest course he has jumped
We werent placed as a team, but Billy and I had fun cantering and playing in the sea instead
Was so much fun billy stood and watched everything happening stifle deep in the ocean

Apologies for position, it was all about the getting round and not me sitting pretty (read: doing nothing!)

Area dressage
This was held after the showjumping, showjumping on the 11th and the dressage on the 13th!
Billy was a bit tired still from the jumping, and in the heat today (26*C) he lost his edge/sparkle a little. We also managed to get the tough judge who marks on the harsh side of fair, but is a very very good judge! The test is quite difficult for me and billy me because I have to try and contain the Billy-ness to do 2 half 10m circles with a transition to walk over the middle and then the canter half circle and Billy finds it difficult as still only 5 and balance can be interesting
Not a great test by our standards, was ok but the whole thing could be much much better, he was a bit wobbly in the test which he hasnt been before & a little on the forehand so wasnt expecting great things, turned out we got 65% which is great shows that he definitely has promise and hopefully when he is firing on all cylinders we can achieve even better scores
We finished 4th individually which for a 5 year old doing his first areas I dont think is too bad!
Photos are to come from the dressage, but here is King Billy after his first wash, he is starting to bulk out now!
What do you think?
So Billy is now having 2 days off to recover from his pony club antics, and then on Saturday we are eventing at a nice low key event and then the Friday is our area eventing
