The week didn’t star well – Billy is now on his wheat free diet and I have been having trouble trying to get the oat ratio right  after what can only be described as a very bad session on Tuesday where I was working on his canter-trot-canter transitions and he was working on his giraffe/inverted horse impressions  This resulted in a very hasty phone call to my dressage instructor whilst still on Billy-giraffe for a lesson on Thursday!
Wednesday night was sj training at pc, where B and I were attempting the intermediate (a very full up 1.05 (a few were 1.10 ) And whilst baby B was going a bit unsure of himself, I had other problems – whilst landing from a rather decent parallel my stirrup leather snapped  weirdly it snapped at the hole not from under the buckle – so useable, although I was riding shorter than my comfort zone allowed :p
Thankfully we had a great lesson on Thursday, where Billy decided that he had enough of giraffe impressions and became super poncy dressage pony instead!
Then on Friday, well, I think someone left the tap on because the bottom of our field was flooded, and the arena was unusable which meant that instead of our customary little jump before the event, we had to go hacking!

The event is rather handy, only 1hr away, and B and I were in the PC intermediate class (Pre-novice) doing BD 20 (yuk!) which I really don’t like – you try man-handling 17h of fresh-oat-fuelled distracted 5 year old into doing a canter-trot-canter transition over x in a 20m circle!
Thankfully, Billy decided to play ball in the dressage after instructor thought an extended warm up might work, although slightly hampered by the fact that one person was determined to ride me off – not sure why! Still, a nice test I thought, we did the things where we were meant to and Billy took full advantage of the trot on a free rein with a very nice stretch!

Then the showjumping, which had a double AND a treble  He jumped very very well, pity about me who can’t see a stride and buried him into one (:() and then over-rode another which meant we had two down – down to my awful riding :o However Billy jumped brilliantly, pinging and felt much more confident and grown up! :D

And finally the XC – nothing too major I was worried about, there was 3 waters which had a log 1 stride before a step down (B was a bit surprised about the first water step!), he is still a bit green going down steps into water, but that will come :) He flew the open ditch which I was :D as Billy has been trying to tell me that the bogey monster lives in the bottom of them, and made mincemeat of the skinnies and banks! The first 1-4 fences were across 2 fields – and the gallop Billy produced was amazing! Suddenly there was such power and what a gallop! It only lasted till the 4th fence though, as still quite weak. So a good clear with him jumping out of his stride and sorting himself out – he was so much more confident :D

So very pleased with Billy Boy, I keep getting these glimpses of the horse he will be – I can’t quite describe the feeling I get, but it makes me go :D everytime!
Oh yes, results –
21.2 in the dressage  :D We were 1st after dressage with the nearest person to us on 26!
We finished up 3rd due to my 8 faults in the jumping, and won a lovely silver plate for the best dressage, and a boot/hat bag for coming third! Event is sponsored by horseware Ireland, so excellent prizes for all! :D
Thanks for reading, have some yummy pavlova up for grabs! :)

Billy is looking fabulous! Would he like to give Mally some Dressage hints, times Billy's score by two and it's still not near Mally's normal score  :D

The pair of you would seem to have an exciting future ahead (if you can keep him away from TD that is!) ;)

thank you :D He likes to give me the idea that he is playing nicely, although I am 99% sure that he is plotting a scheme with the donkeys against me :p

I have a fabulous dressage instructor who is just the best :D Billy has said that to tell Mally to remember that all those people are there to watch her ;) :D

Hopefully - but however now that TD has found me on facebook am a bit  :p

I was going to say you have a future star on your hands but it sounds like he's a star already - so I'll just say wow, well done you and Billy :).

Wow brilliant dressage score and really lovely horse!! Puts my 5yo to shame with how well you and Billy are doing. Mine is a bit of a late developer!! :p :p

Going on the pics he well and truely deserved his DR score!!!
Well done on the clear XC sounds like he was brilliant and ' :D ' is the best sort of reaction (beats ' ')

So hard to believe that he is only 5! So the Rio Olympics eh?

Thank you :D I think so too!
LOL re: Rio (:p) I can't ever see that happening :p :p

The words "Told you So" spring to mind ;) :p :D He is, indeed, destined for great things - and you aren't doing a bad job of producing him :D

lol TD! Hopefully - but not too bothered if we don't - having a great time just riding and working away! :D Thanks, I always worry that others would be producing him better :o
