Hello!
Just wondering if anyone on this forum is going this year, as I would love to travel up from Oxfordshire to do it! Looks fantastic fun!

(Also to add: Was given a lovely book for Christmas about my ancestors and apparently one of them was MFH of the Bilsdale for 3 years!! (1897 - 1900 H Selby Lowndes ) So really keen to come out with you and carry on the tradition for old times sake!! ;-) )

If anyone could help me finding out more info such as ticket prices, B&B's, hirelings that would be great! Am going to call the hunt sec up too!

Many thanks!!!!

Me... i'll be there - i seem to spend my entire life getting people to come!!

It's my regular pack, and have to say that it is our best day by far - it's rubbish hunting cos it's so late in the season, but it's always a good do.

are you bringing your own or borrowing one?

i'll be on spotty pony in my little pic thingy.

ETA - will check ticket prices for you - standard visitors day cap is £45, but I don't know how much the gallop is.

Hirelings - I can put you in touch with a lady (best do it quick tho) PM me for details.

as for B&B's there's loads in Thirsk, and the Family of one of our whips runs a pub that may have B&B as well - will check that too.

Hi Holloa
I know this is a few years after the event so may not reach you. Just looking up some info on the house we are buying. It seems it was built for your relative Mr Selby Lowndes. I am going to keep trawling the internet for more info. The house is called Handley Cross after the book. Anyway, best wishes...Alastair

Hi again Holloa
Since my first email I have actually found a book by Mr Selby Lowndes regarding the hunting exploits which he wrote. In it there is a chapter on his time at the Bilsdale which actually mentions the house (which we are now in). There is a portrait of him at the start of the book. Fascinating stuff! I have also asked the Bilsdale for any info they may have.
Best Regards
Alastair
