Bio-Diesel????

OK, I know some people add Veg/corn/sunflower oil to their diesel engined vehicles. I have a few questions - all the stuff I've googled seems to be in double dutch

a) How safe it this - thinking of flames here
b) does it damage the engine at all?
c) quantities - who much oil to diesel?

I saw a Top Gear programme where they got an RAC man to verify that they removed all diesel from a car, replaced it with used cooking oil, and the car ran perfectly on it. Might be worth visiting their website to see if you can find more details!

At the moment it is about 40% neat bio-fuel to diesel. Does not damage the engine. Can emit a funny smell.

and you have to work out how much you use, work out the duty on it and send a cheque off to the tax man.

Freaky! Makes it hardly worth doing.

It doesn't really work out that much cheaper because as Ali babe says you still have to pay fuel duty on it. They did it on 'it's not easy being green' and it was probably 5p a litre cheaper for an awful ot of hassle
