Hi,

About three weeks ago my horse severed her extensor tendon in her hind leg on high tinsel wire. Last vet visit the vet put some bio mesh on the open wound. Has anyone had any experience with this stuff very expensive two patches $1,000 US.

I cant help you, but if you PM Tia or Enfys they should be in a better position to advise.

I hope it all works out for you.

My horse did this a few years ago. Didn't use biomesh and i have no experience of it so i can't comment on that i' afraid. However after 4 months box rest a Robert Jones splint and a year off he did make a full recovery and has been eventing since. He has quite a bit of scarring now but he doesn't mind and neither do i!!

I think the prognosis for hind suspensorys is fairly good so try not to worry too much, good luck.

The stuff is called Acell graft. It is suppose to give the skin a place to grow and come together. Also it helps avoid Proud Flesh. She is at my friend's who starts and trains young horses. So she is now the barn manager there to greet everyone upon arrival and help my friend tack up everyone. (My friend is the one who started her). So despite being in a stall 24-7 (before she was out 24-7) she has lots to do. It is a very open airy bright stall.
