Bioflow Magnetic Horse Boots

My friend has given me a pair of Bioflow boots to try on my 23yr old boy as he has slight arthritis in his right hip and also had a tendon injury to his off hind a few years ago. He's currently on a glucosamine supplement and the vet has told me to give him bute (danilon) if I think he's having an 'off' day, which isn't that often now but he does get quite stiff in the winter. I ride him about 4times a week and I don't really want to be giving him bute all the time. Has anyone tried these boots or heard of anyone that has? Or can anyone recommend any other brand of magnetic boots? Thanks

bioflow is supposed to the best on the market, i think they offer a life time gurantee on the magnets, ive got a pair of bioflow boots for my boy who has had a check ligament injury. i must admit ive not really used them, but a friend of mine has and swears by them! i would definatly go for bioflow over any other brand.

I used them with sucess when merlins arthritis was first discovered as he was stabled a lot of the time at that particular yard.

I found them to be great.... but now he is out 24/7 I dont use them as he is not stiff or in need. Also I dont want his legs getting curly feathers on them like they did when he used to wear the boots

If he needed them again I would have no hesitation to use them.

Are they ok to turnout in 24/7 or just overnight? My boy is out all the time in the summer and stabled overnight in the winter, so I'd probably want to put them on when he comes in in the winter. They're the neoprene ones so I worry they'll make his legs sweat.

You are not supposed to use them on the same leg for more than 12 hours..... but you can put them on fronts for 12 and hinds for 12, therefore he could have them on for 24 hours.

I have heard people say that the magnets will burn their legs, but have had no experience of that myself..... just that the legs can get a bit sweaty under the neoprene.

Ah ok, thanks for that I'll probably try them out on his hinds first. Do you think it'll make any difference to the arthritis in his hip? I wasn't sure but thought I might give it a go!

I thought that they had to go directly on the site of pain..... but apparently not....

I also read that they increase blood flow (I assume to the limb or area that they are applied to....) so that is why I thought the above..... But again I have been told that it is not the case and they help whichever area needs helping

I haave used mag. boots on two old arthritic horses (27 and 30) with good results. Not that make.

I now use them on any horse with an injury as well as vet treatment.
