Well I'm doing my coursework (a2 level) and have done my plan and results (going to do analysis and conclusion later) but am reeeally confused as to what to put in my background info (have been told it has to be about 2 pages to get decent marks

). My investigation was the relationship between the abundance of freshwater shrimp and the velocity of the the stream *yawn*and I've put in some stuff about shrimps and I can't think what else to add. Have been trying to put some stuff about respiration etc in there but I don't really know how to make it relevant and have basically explained the diff stages of it. Do you think this is alright and what else could I put in/what ways could I improve it?

xx

I would do it this way:

Shrimp life cycle
Shrimp habitat
How the speed of the water affects the shrimp's habitat and how this impacts upon the shrimp (i.e. availability of food, breeding habits)
Your hypothesis (i.e what you expect your experiment to show)

Google scholar is worth a look, don't forget about predators, food chains, water quality, ph, hard/soft water. Write your hypothesis last, you'll know exactly what you've done by then.
Good luck, am in 2nd yr doing conservation biology and ecology, does anyone know about aphids!!
