Guys this is for a friend. Has anyone experience of these products for sweetitch?

She and a friend have 4 horses out 24/7 :-

Welsh Cross - no sweetitch

Ancient TBX - no Sweetitch

Welsh Section - gets it really bad

Andalucian - she also gets it really bad arrived from spain couple of years back with her mane to her knees and now will rub herself until bleeding.

Obviously dont have any probs yet but want to wage war on it before it starts this year.

I used cavalesse with success, but you need to start early and you still need to use a proper rug, like a Boett.

Start Feeding good quality Brewers Yeast now and keep feeding it everyday. 25g for every 450kg of horse. Try to feed within every 24hours. Wash with surgical shampoo before the midges arrive and apply Nettex Itch Stop Salve to all previously affected areas twice a week. Do not feed garlic. The active ingredient in Brewers Yeast is Vitamin B3. I think that Cavalesse is virtually 99% vitamin B3. Good Luck

I had no success with cavalesse. Though feeding on half a weta viz was the best to make sure he got it all for us!

I've found global herbs Skratch to be amazing.

Biggest thing is to determine if it actually is sweet itch or not - look at weathers, feeds, plants etc and identify patterns
