I want a pro&pre biotic product for my native pony.

Protexin has been recommended as good by a few friends but I have choosed Biopro by feedmark as it says suitable for laminitics and as my pony is a native pony I try and always get products that are suitable for laminitics.

Protexin may well be suitable for laminitics but it is not marketed as such. It is about 1/4 of the price of Biopro.

Looking in my book guide to equine supplements and nutraceuticals by Eleanor Kellon it says the effective yeasac dose a day is 45 billion but it is quite hard to work out how many billon yeasac is in each product.

It appears BioPro is more expensive as it has more Yeasac and FOS in than Protexin. BioPro has 10g of Yea-Sacc1026 and 15g of fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS) in the daily dose not sure how much in Protexin but as you only give 10g a day of the Protexin in comparision to about 75g of the BioPro I am presuming there is less Yea Sacc and FOS in the Protexin hence the price difference.

In my book it says that giving too low a dose is a waste of money but it is very difficult to work out how many billion yeasac organisims are in each dose.

However a lot of people say the Protexin is very good so does anyone know is it ok for laminitics and does the dosage meet the recommended dose of 45 billion CFU a day.
