Biothane bridles: anyone got one?

What do you make of it? Also interested to see pictures, escpecially if you jazzed it up on colours? ;)
 
I bought mine for £32, used off preloved with reins and a martingale to see if I liked it. Its been one of my favorite bargains! Its a blue zilco marathon bridle and it goes in the washing machine.

We used to use all zilco harness at work though and I'm past the point in life where I understand why people continue to make work for themselves using leather for everyday work when it takes so much more looking after. :confused: :)
 
We have a red one. It's really easy to keep clean and isn't stiff like some leather can be so can be adjusted quickly on youngsters.

Ignore the unhappy face it was only his second time with a bit. :o

I have one, and just bought the reins too so I don't have to bother cleaning mine any more. LOVE IT. Saves so much time.
 
I bought a brown one to match horse's leather saddle (I'm veggie, hence interest in non-leather, but also a sharer so wanted something owner wd be happy with/not too expensive).

Very happy with it - and in a boring colour looks fine with leather from a distance.
 
one of the ponies has a blue and yellow one, its very cute :) I like it well enough and would get another for the big horse if I were to start long distance rides etc. Have to say though, I do like leather more.
 
They are handy for throwing on in bad weather, I used to have the Zilco deluxe one in navy with matching reins and breastplate but found Zilco stuff all a bit heavy (the brass hardware seems unnecessarily large!) so sold them. I also have a black biothane c bridle from performance equestrian that fastens under the jaw rather than with a normal throat lash and I love it - their reins are much more supple than the Zilco ones and the clips are nice and light. Along with that I have a brown biothane hackamore bridle from perfeq which I use for lunging/long reining in - they don't get scratched or wrecked by mud and I sling them in the washing machine when I'm done!
 
Sorry! The browband has poppers to detach bridle part from headcollar. Really clever design very impressed.
Also bought second hand bridle in cyan bright blue which is just like a normal snaffle with cavesson. I use it daily and keep the deluxe one for competition in Trec and Endurance.
I've had Libbys webbing bridles for years but am being converted as think Biothane much better quality. I do still have some leather tack for traditional shows though!

Where did you get it from please?
 
I saw Biothane for the first time when I was in Dubai a few years ago and was really impressed with it. They also do some stuff that glows in the dark (it reacts with the heat from the horse), think that sounds really great if you can get hold of it.

and now i have a plain black zilco hackamore bridle for everyday riding.

Love them, so easy to keep in good condition and i dont have to worry if it gets a soaking :D
 
I had one, really nice and easy to keep, prefer real leather though, but that is just me. Mine was a boring brown.:cool:
 
I had one in my long distance days, red and blue. Looked lovely and easy to clean. However went of combi endurance bridle when reins unclipped from bridle when pony rubbed his head against legs whilst carrering downhill at speed and also bridle clips attached him to sheep fencing when grazing. It isn't very breakable either. I now have reverted to leather.
 
Zilco Deluxe bridle with browband poppers. Can buy from Performance Equestrian, they also do their own copy of Zilco's great idea. But I bought mine from a Scottish based internet tack shop, can't remember name but is was ordinary bloke name! Based in West Linton. Good service cheaper price.

And don't give a monkeys nuts if anyone doesn't like it because they aren't/don't look like leather.
