Would anyone recommend feeding biotin to help with hair growth as well as hoof growth?

We have a 3yr old pony at work who seems to have very slow hair growth (mane and tail only, coat is fine), he had his tail chewed as a yearling and its taken a long time to regrow and also his feet hardly grow, has always had slow growth but seems to be worse and hasn't needed to be trimmed since beginning of jan (i have had farrier check every time he comes to do others!!).

Am thinking he is lacking something and wondering whether biotin would be a good choice, i know its really good for horn growth as have used it before with very good results but am unsure whether it would help with hair growth??!

Any advice?
Thanks :)

In Ireland at the moment everybody is raving about a seaweed product called Seaquim. It is made of seaweed and is good for hooves, hair, condition and general wellbeing. It comes in 10KG bags for € 25 which lasts ages - only a couple of ounces into feed per day. I don't know who makes it or if it is available in the UK. It stinks so don't scoop with your hands but cheap and seems to be effective.
