I've found too dead swallows in the yard this week - they're nesting in the sheds and fly in low over the yard. My Dougal dog has been sitting over the bodies but I cannot believe he could catch a swallow - he is a stumpy collie/terrier cross (if you can imagine a very hairy corgi that's close!). My young collie bitch on the other hand ... she's fast and athletic. Is it possible she's actually catching them on the wing? The cats don't go in this yard as the dogs are there. The dead birds seem to be adults, not fledglings that have fallen out of nest. Anyone ever have dogs catch a bird?
