Long long weekend, am glad to be home and warm! Went up saturday afternoon even though Fitz was the last one in the novice open at half 5 on sunday, as we wanted to do the arena walk in the morning.
It was freezing cold and dark when I got on and the arena walk was exciting in places but very very useful! He only had 2 moments, one involving a woman with a walking stick and another involving as very hairy coloured stallion that Fitz took a fancy too
Then we had all day to sit and get nervous.... think managed to hold it altogether, just.
Finally got on to warm up just before 5, and he felt very hot! Lots of trotting round with him nice and round till he settled then picked him up and he was feeling awesome!
Took bandages off and had tack check, which made him a bit tense but got him back just before we went in.
We decided to go for safe and secure to start with, considering I had to retire at this venue 2 weeks ago.... so started off with him quite deep and contained then started to pick up him and by the end had he really up and he felt great. Wasnt expecting to get placed as he was very low in places but I felt like I rode it right and it got him through his ridicoulous spookiness!
Thrilled to come 10th with 67% in a very hot class
Prize giving (I think I was quite brave to do this! )
and a little video from the prize giving, and slight loss of control...
