My friend has just bought a Kimberwick for her Haflinger as she has no brakes with her! It's not the Uxeter type. She needs advice on what to do with the curb chain as it's long and she is wondering what to do with the chain.

make sure the curb is hanging evenly on each side, eg 3 loops on the right and 3 on left. Make sure its flat in the curb of the chin not twisted. The tighter the curb the more severe the bit becomes, if she finds she has breaks without the curb, leave it off

Can't comment on that but my friend had a haffie with no brakes out hacking though and a hackamore completely changed her.
She jumps in standard bridle and bit, but all hacking in a hackamore.

She borrowed a friends first as a trial and it made the world of difference
