My 8yo daughter is struggling with the steering on her Section A. She is a stubborn little sod (pony not daughter:rolleyes:) and daughter struggles to get her where she wants her sometimes. So I am thinking of getting a full cheek snaffle (she is in a plain eggbutt snaffle at the moment) to help her. Would there be any benefit to a happy mouth, over a metal one, or a straight bar over a french link?? Would the straight bar help any more with steering etc?

I'd get the same mouthpiece currently used but with full cheeks - no point in adding in any complication if the pony's fine other than steering.

Agree with the above. In addition, if pony is taking advantage, side reins / grass reins will reduce it's opportunity.
Also worth doing some long-reining yourself - adult hands should improve pony's steering a little.

I still wouldn't change more than one thing at once - whether you don't like single-jointed bits or not it's the pony that's got to wear it and she wouldn't be the first to prefer a single-jointed bit.
