My young horse (just 5 ) that i have had for 3 months is in a Happy mouth full cheek with peanut but tends to get rubs on the corners of her mouth despite light hands .
I have had her teeth done and tried a few other bits which she doesnt like so have bought some gel bit guards which have worked a treat as mouth is fine but she is now leaning on the bit as it feels much more fixed in her mouth.
Has anyone had a similar problem ,they are soft but quite thick and i assume keep the bit still but i know dont feel she is as responsive ,and dont feel like she is as light or easy to slow.
Any thoughts as i fix one issue and create another it seems.

If you are using bit guards, then you don't need full cheek as well..

I'd suggest swapping to the same mouthpiece in a loose ring snaffle which should let your horse play with the bit a lot more :)

Good luck

Thanks ,yes it feels totally fixed now so that makes sense...i presume its a good thing for the bit to be more stable but in our case its just too much.
