Horse originally ridden in French link I needed more control though so changed to a rubber Pelham was great for a wee while but caused to much poll pressure now back in French link is there anything I can use to give me a bit extra control without causing poll pressure ? Thanks x

I don't think so, it's not designed to lower the head as far as I can remember. Have a look on 'the bit bank', they've got a lot of advice on there :)

I like a copper mix French link on a loose ring, the loose ring stops the horse being able to take a hold/lean because everytime they try the loose rings move, gave me far greater control over my mare who was strong, a leaner and evasive

dutch gag will cause poll pressure but its different to a pelham, my old mare hated the pelham but got on well with the dutch gag. or, you could try a wilkie. What exactly do you need more control in? Stopping, turning etc? And what does your horse do as in grab the bit, ignore it, lean on it etc

Thanks everyone she just rushes everything with the Pelham I could get her on the bit now she just leans on it and have very little breaks she's a showjumper but doesn't concentrate on the flat there has to be lots of jumps up for her to concentrate x

If she leans on it, I would suggest you try a Waterford Snaffle - this will give you more breaks and stop her from being able to run straight through the contact when she is excited but without using poll pressure. It isn't Dressage Legal but will give you more control for jumping, etc. I am a big fan of these bits and have seen them used successfully on strong horses on many occasions.

defo agree with queenbee if your horse already goes well in the french link try the loose ring french link theyre brill ,i ride my jumper in it and he loves it

If the pelham was ok but had too much lowering effect why not try a kimblewick? A uttoxeter has the slots which give you a bit more than the standard.
