Bit advice please

Went to a PC rally today with the eldest daughter and Toto was a real pain , he was in a cheltenham gag and cavesson noseband and everytime they cantered in a group he charged off and wouldn't stop till he'd done 5 laps of the school!! the last rally he did he was an angel so think he was just being silly but now my younger daughter is worried he will do that with her! Instructor said try a flash and different bit , I prefer drop nosebands but any advice on a bit to try ?
 
The branch of the pony club we are in do not allow the cheltenam gag.

I would check with your DC but I would try a Tom Thumb or a globe pelham with a curb chain this worked for my daughters pony who also used to take her on an endurance ride at every rally
