bit advice please

Hi,

I've just got a new horse and I've no idea what bit to get her. She has been a broodmare for the last 3 years so no tack was available.

She is an ex-racer and when I tried her out she just had a french link in. It wasn't her bridle though. It just worries me if I have a french link I won't have any stopping power so any suggestions please.

keep her in loose ring french link as long as you can. just make sure your first few rides are in a school/with company etc so you are safe.

I would keep her in a french link until you find out how/where she gets strong. This is because different horses evade the contact and get strong in different ways and you will need a different type of bit to counteract whatever it is that she does- being an ex racer you may find she has a gentle mouth and so need to change her noseband rather than her bit

loose link french link it a lovely bit and u neva know she might eb vrey quite ive got an xrace horse nd hes quite has a lamb
