Hi Everyone! I’m new to this so hope I’ve put this on the correct place

Sprenger Dynamic RS WH ULTRA Eggbut bit with D-shaped rings - Double Jointed

I have been using this bit to help with my mare over bending and coiling her neck. This bit has made a huge improvement and she is now not so heavy in hand.

I’m looking for a second hand one.. they are like gold dust! Or can anyone with biting advice recommend a cheaper bit with similar properties

Thanks

It's worth checking eBay/FB marketplace for second hand options.
Regarding similar bits, it will depend on which aspect(s) of the bit are behind the improvement, finding out which might be a case of trial and error- fine if you can borrow/trial, not if you need to buy!
Korsteel and Shires make cheaper bits with roller links, some in copper and steel, some in nylon and with eggbut/d-ring and full cheek options.
There are various alloys out there mooted as the next big thing in bitting solutions- I'm a little sceptical about how much they offer over traditional options, but you may find your horse has a particular preference for one material over another.
If it's the shape of the bit, there are again cheaper options for double linked bits with a more shaped mouthpiece, although from a cursory search I've only found these in lozenge link options, rather than roller links.

I'd be inclined to have a look at what similar bits you can borrow- if you know someone that has a roller link full cheek for instance, try that first. If it doesn't work, you know that you'll need to look at other options without having bought something that doesn't work for her.
Some places have a 'bit bank' where you can get one or more bits on trial and send them back if they don't work, or keep them if they do- that way you can try a couple of different options and if none work you're only out the trial fee, if one works you've only paid for that bit (+possibly a small trial fee for the others).
