After a lesson on the pony last night, our trainer suggested the use of a Bit brush on one side to stop him being so strong / drifting to the right when jumping. Interested to know of anyone else that might have used a Bit Brush, as we had not come across one before ?

Ive seen them in use on ptp horses but tbh I would be more inclined to solve your drifting problem with schooling than with a brush.

I appreciate your comments but as the advice / suggestion came from a BSJA and BE accredited trainer after a number of flatwork exercises / lessons - I think I have to bow to her superior experience and see how things go. I should stress that the brush is only going to be used for a couple of sessions and then removed, but thanks for your thoughts.

I used one ages ago on a mare that was drifting a bit and I wanted to nip the problem in the bud immediately. It worked as I only had to use it a couple of times. I used one more recently on another horse and it didn't help at all unfortunately, but I would still use one again if necessary.

Just because someone is acredited and registered I still wouldn't hang on their everyword, gadgets like these aim for a quick fix, there could be an underlying problem causing the drifting, back, saddle or riding position related, and if it's a schooling issue it should be schooled through. In the long run more harm than good could be caused by trying to cover up the issue, JMO

Yes obviously check no underlying causes first! If not, don't see any huge problem with it TBH.
