I've got a 2 & a half year old Irish Sport Horse filly, whose outgrown the copper bit I started her off in (for lungeing only). Now I want to buy her a Happy Mouth bit to be nice & gentle on her, especially as she's teething.
I'm contemplating either a French Link or just a straight bar (don't know the technical name, I know some stuff about bits, but not that
). I just wondered which is the gentlest out of the two?
And if I pick the softest, will I be being too soft & giving her the perfect opportunity to run rings around me?
I'll only be lungeing & long-lining her in it for now, but will move onto riding her gradually when she turns 3 & would like it if the bit I choose would be suitable for breaking her in too..
Any advice greatly appreciated
