I have a horse who is quite forward and can be a little strong (even on the flat). I usually ride him in a loos ring french link.
He has been over reacting to his mouth in the last few days i.e if I take a stronger contact, if has started to rear or shake his head about.
After riding him yesterday I checked his mouth and he has was looks like brusies on the corners of his lips, just inside his mouth where the bit goes.
The bit is the correct fit and I am not strong in the hand or doing anything odd with my hands!

Can anyone reccomend a bit to prevent this that I can do dressage in.

Thanks!

we were speaking to our dentist about this when he came and did ours horses as one of ours had slight ulcers near where the bit goes. and he said it can happen due to loose ring bits. have you tried an eggbutt snaffle? they pinch less and it has sorted out our horse

You could try a French Link baucher. It gives a little more poll pressure without putting too much pressure in the mouth. Also you may find that it is the loose ring that is causing the problem.
