was just reading the 'sustainable dressage' website and it states the following

[ QUOTE ]
A well fitted snaffle with no wrinkled lips.

[/ QUOTE ]

now, when I was taught to fit a bit, I was told there should be one or one and a half wrinkles on the lips for the bit to be in the correct position. This was taught to me many years ago.

Have I been doing it wrong all this time ????

I just go by how well it fits in their mouth, I just make sure its not too low to be bashing at their canines, and not too high so its causing them to smile.
I think that wrinkle buisiness is deceiving as some horses have 'longer (for want of a better word) mouths then others!!!!

No you haven't been doing it wrong!! a horse should 'SMILE' with a well fitted bit but NOT 'LAUGH'. one or one and a half wrinkles is usually about right. Dont believe all you read!!

I always make sure mines slightly wrinkling the lips. It depends on the horse but as a rule of thumb that's how I go about it.
