Currently in the process of bringing my pony back into work after over a year off due to surgery and lack of time. All is going well but I'm on a mission to make sure everything is as comfortable as possible for him.

He has a very small mouth, not particularly fleshy there just isn't much room in there as he is a dainty boy. He was broken in a nathe straight bar but outgrew it and went in a sweet iron with a lozenge but feel like it's just a bit too bulky for his diddy mouth. He opens his mouth a bit to evade contact which makes me think he could be more comfortable.

I like the look and sound of the verbindend, especially in the 12mm but open to any other suggestions.

How small are we talking? Much under 4 inches and I tend to find a 'old fashioned' single jointed is the only real viable option (or metal mullen or cambrige mouth) as the posher shaped ones are not the correct shape. My current little one takes a 4.75 and is really happy in his myler. My other one is in the NS 'training' bit as I prefer that to the verbindend but he takes a 5 inch! He responds to it pretty sharpish, he's a strong sort of pony (veteran driving pony), but the different shape really sits him up compared to a straight or mullen.

Thanks all he takes a 4.5"/ 4.75" considering he's 14.2 it's slightly pathetic. I'll look into them all. Budget is relatively low as I need to buy a new saddle but willing to stretch it a bit

Hiya

I just bought my mare the 4.75 Neue Schule Tranz Angled Lozenge Universal Lever Bit and she loves it. She is 14.2 but with a tiny mouth...She is liking it though

I use a myler comfort snaffle - 15.1 and his is a 5inch (which in myler is 4.5 inch), I use the copies as they seem to be the same as the originals but cheaper
