neices pony great on the lead rein, not easy off the lead rein, so looking for a first ridden for her. in between any bits suggestions to help off the lead rein, he legged it down the school with her today stopped at the gate she stayed on with me shouting keep her hands up and sit up but it freaked her out a bit got back on tho. just hired a kimblewick to try just wondered if anyone has any other ideas. Teeth are fine he is a welsh sec a.

A Wilkie bit is ideal for small ponies. It gives the child brakes whilst still looking neat on the pony. It doesn't alter in strength with the position of the reins and is an excellent bit. It's sometimes called a Wilkie Snaffle.
