Yellow Dog really growled at two kids today and for a moment I thought they were going to get bitten :( We were walking and they ambushed him. He didn't see them (I didn't either until they landed on him) and they jumped on him. He's got a sore shoulder and can be nervous so I'm lucky he didn't bite them but still a bit :(

Luckily he was fine once he realised they were kids and let them stroke him and gave them a good wash. I explained to them they shouldn't do that to strange dogs as it could end up with one of them getting a nasty bite and they seemed to take it all in, one of them ran home and got Yellow Dog a hobnob to apologise.

It ended well but he's never, ever done that before even when surprised though to be fair to him I don't think he's ever had a child actually land on him.

In fairness to him he didnt know what had jumped out and ambushed him, man, child, woman or other. Silly children but we all know if anything did happen your dog would get the blame :-(

I think you should take it as a one off if hes never done this before, I think many dogs might have the same reaction - he didn't actually bite did he, and at least you had the opportunity to hopefully stop the kids doing it in future and stopping them from potentially getting bitten. Your dogs reaction might have actually educated them a bit too :)

Mine made my nephew cry today. Nephew is 2 and a half, and they came to visit and brought a toy with them, which Max quickly dispatched, fluff everywhere  Nephew started crying, poor thing was traumatised how the cuddly toy giraffe was murdered in cold blood. Max then helped himself to my nephews glass of milk which the OH had left on the table, and made him cry again! :D :D

Thanks guys. He's crashed out on my feet atm. I think more than anything for me it was shock as I've never seen him act so aggressively before. I might pop round and let their parents know as I know where they live.
