Hi all,
havent posted in a while due to being very busy with MrFlash at a new yard (for the mean time anyway) , loving havin the use of the big arena and jumps (but thats beside the point of this post lol)
ive finally started 2 compete flash *yay*
i had him in a hanging cheek wit lozenge for the extra wee bit of poll pressure to encourage him 2 lower his head because he rode like a giraffe, he went fine with this bit at home out jumping but he started 2 pull his head down and take a hold going into the jumps at the new yard (were only there for a holiday) on advice from a friend i changed him into a loose ring French link, this stopped him from pulling his head down going into jumps but today i rode him in a 70cm class and my friend rode him in the 80cm, he was flat out galloping into the jumps with NO breaks at all and really giving the jumps air, (see pic below of a few days previous) in between jumps that some horses found it hard to do in 4 strides he was doing it in 3 with ease, it was scary to watch, comin out of the arena people were saying to me you need to get breaks in that horse thats just dangerous.
so ive hit a blank wall, i really dont want to jump straight from a snaffle into a Pelham, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
i no hes being gobbed in the mouth in this pic but he took off really early lol
