I am currently riding a 15hh medium/heavyweight cob and he is in just a normal loose ring snaffle. However if you are very slightly too tight on the contact he runs backwards and does the same with a bit that is any stronger than the loose ring. Are Eggbutt snaffles slightly milder? I do not want to put him bitless because I want to compete him (Do a bit of everything on him) so he needs to stay with a bit. Are there any milder bits out there? Also Rocky will not abide by french link or lozenge bits, he just throws his head about and runs backwards.

What about a neue schule verbinden works well with mine he is a med weight cob. ine is very similar and can not have a strong bit but this ade a difference also what noseband do you use?

He is very soft in the mouth for a big guy and his teeth have been checked. He is just in a normal noseband (Cavesson). A straight bar type bit may be the way to go, or a ported mouth piece. I will definately look up the Neue Schule Verbinden bit.
Thank you!
