I have a girl come and ride with me once and a while so we can canter the horses together. But she finds Hattie strong in her loose ring waterford. The girl isn't experienced enough to ride Hattie in the straight bar pelham with 2 reins, so tonight I tried her with roundings. I didn't find her remotely strong but she isn't with me anyway. I am worried though that she will lean on the pelham.
My question is which is better? The waterford, which she can hold her in but finds her strong, or the pelham, which she could potentially lean on?

I would have thought if you are swopping the bits depending on who rides her you will be fine. The pelham if only occassionally used will not change any habits as the majority of the time you are in the waterford. I am always swopping bits depending on what I am doing and to stop bad habits forming.
