Bit icky - mouse eating!

My new addition JRT puppy seems to have a habit of diving under the bush in the garden to find a dead mouse (that the cats have left there) and swallow it whole before I get to him. He's only 9 weeks, surely this can't be good for him?! Should I be feeding him meat is it a sign he needs more protein or something?! I'm still feeding him the bag of food the breeders gave me (James Wellbeloved Puppy) I'm worried he'll get a bone stuck or catch something.. not to mention the fact he's getting really round!! I could stop him going under the bush by putting him in a little run or something? What do you all think?

Chloe does this all the time and its never had any ill effects. I think raw bones are fine cos they are still bendy.

Sensible dog he's put himself on a raw diet! Actually mice would be a perfect balance of meat hair bones and a bit of veg in their stomach, a real natural balanced meal !!!!

PS don't worry about the bones unless you are contemplating cooking his mice that will be fine!
