Afternoon peeps...
It's a bit late in the day, however first time i've got online...
Took Bonnie to Combined Training on Saturday, BE 102 and 90cm jumping.
For various reasons I'd not ridden all week, and never even rode the test before the day - silly I know but hey!
Anyway - she began her warm up well, and felt quite good, if slightly fidgety, but as we carried on, she started becoming less able to hold the canter, I was getting frustrated but my amazing groom (Buckinghorse) said she looked really well, and I won't argue with her!!!
Went in and wanted to have a canter round the boards but the bell went rather quickly so hadn't time! Test seemed to be going OK till canter, when again she felt like she wasn't going to hold it - the canter on the other rein even worse.. but her trot work and long rein work got me 7's
- never had a 7 before! Came out really disappointed but my 'groupies' said it looked really good, I said it felt like sh*t!!!
On to jumping, and warmed up well, need to really remeber I'm not riding Ludo who'd need all the riding in the world to get over a fence as he was a stopper, Bonnie isn't but she doesn't like me getting too involved in the strides before as she's rather inteligent!!! We did our round then, and sadly just rolled 2 poles but again, felt she had been really bold and although I sat quietly, there are still some times when these things happen.
Over all, a really good day - horse did well, I was quite relaxed and thanks to Buckinghorse, I felt quite confident about the jumping!!
So - it's just XC training we need to do, and then we can hit the ODE's!!!
Will put a vid of the test in P-Gallery - those that know a thing or 2 about dressage can comment, those that don't - well??!!
