Want to compete a bit over summer, just local level, couple of dummie questions about what to wear, and will be SJing.

So obviously I need a jacket, I'm thinking black?
What underneath for SJ??

Beige/white jods??
Do I need long boots for it, guessing I can't use joddy boots and chaps?

Can see this is going to be expensive.

Think shirt & stock underneath jacket.

Leather gaiters should be fine or decent long rubber or leather long boots.

White jods are the norm but beige should be ok too.

Good luck!

ETS; navy jacket is also ok. (I'm sure it is, but check)

Jacket- for local level any colour (black, navy, tweed etc) is fine but i always think tweed is preferable as it goes with any discipline and is also more correct if you want to do a working hunter.
Shirt and tie or stock is fine- any colour is fine for local level but i'd go for the more conventunal colours (navy, red etc)
Beige or white jods
You should be fine with boots and chaps if they are smart, it would be a nice investment to get some leather gaitors as i think they would look smarter than rubber boots

But most of all have fun!

it really depends on what you want to do.

SJ - jacket (navy or hacking for ladies, black is more for men) with an american collar shirt, white breeches, long boots

D - jacket (navy or hacking) shirt with stock or tie

Showing - depends on class

Best bet is to buy a hacking jacket as will be acceptable in 99% of classes unless you intend to stick to one disipline.

It probably depends at what level you are SJ. My daughter (aged 19) competes at RC level, wears tweed jackets, shirt and stock, beige or white jodhs depending on her mood and jod boots with leather gaiters. There are several people wearing the same, even at the championships so presume this is perfectly acceptable.
