I have just finished the bag of Spillers Cool Fibre that i got £2 off, and although both boys really liked it, it didn't seem to last long, and I *think* it's about £10 a bag.

I really liked the way it had pellets in it, so have done some tinterweb research and would like you luverly people to tell me what you think of-

Dengie Healthy Hooves
Dengie Good Doer
Spillers happy Hoof

They both get chop/chaff as an 'extra', on top of their nuts/mix, but I need one that is unheating as poss for Solo.

I *think* that the Dengie Good Doer would be the best, as has more fibre in it and has less Oil in than the others, but I don't know if it has the pellets in it?

Opinions please, I'm off to the feed shop soon.

Thankyou.

I'll throw another on in to the mix for you (no pun intended!). I used to feed Spillers Happy Hoof, but switched to Dodsen & Horrells Safe and Sound, as it smells more appealing (herby) and it has nice big pellets in, whereas Happy Hoof looked much more like chaff and tasted quite dull (according to my ponio!)

Ooh, I've just been to look at the Dengie website

It doesnt sound like it has tasty pellets in, if its main ingredients are alfalfa and straw. Depends which is more important, fibre or tasty pellets

Have fun deliberating!

I feed both of mine just on a scoop of Safe and Sound, and no mix. Might be an option for you if Sol needs unheating food.

In fact, most of our yard is now on S&S, with conditioning cubes or a mix, and all are thriving.

If you want the chaff as an extra, then personally I'd just get hi-fi or hi-fi lite, as the nuggets are vit/min supplements and fibre cubes etc so you're just replicating the mix you're already feeding. It'd work out a lot cheaper for you, with the same results!

Thankyou everyone for all your suggestions.

Dengie Good Doer is just a chaff..... I ended up buying that as it has a minty taste- and Sol ate all of his up last night.

I decided that I'd get the good Doer, use it up, and then start buying something with pellets in- cos they should be out by the time I've used the GD up!

I'm beginning to think that it's the novelty of the pellets that makes me want the boys to have them though....
