So my mare has been clipped each winter since I got her (this will be the third winter) and I have never realise until now, as I am trying to not clip, how much she HATES her winter coat!
I have never seen anything like it. She doesn't sweat, so doesn't need clipping so I was trying to keep her hairy for a bit more warmth and she is just an absolute cow! Every winter she gets stroppy but normally she comes in at night and gets clipped around the same time so I always assumed it was because she wanted to come in. This year the strop hasn't budged and she has been in 2 months almost! So it has to be the hair. Groomed her tonight and ears were back constantly and silly faces, should probably add she is an absolute sweetheart of a horse generally so this isn't the normal her at all!!
Does anybody else have a horse that hates their winter hair with a vengeance?? It's just so random!
