Not too sure where to post this really, it is horse related so guess its ok in here.

Anyway, i have a Rice Europa Trailer, not sure how old it is, its about 10years old id guess. The paint work on it has gone very dull and a faided to a light blue colour, its kind of dusty if you touch it like if you wipe your hand on it your hand will then be covered in blue/back dusty stuff.

We have tried abit of car polish on a small area or it which seems to of brought it back to its original dark blue shiny colour but im not sure if this is ok to use on it?

The trailer i believe is made out of tin and posibly fiberglass?

Any tips or ideas on this? I do not want to polish the whole trailer just to find that it fades back to the dull dusty light blue colour within a few weeks as i havnt done something to it that i needed to before/after.

This is the colour that it is now

As long as the surface you're cleaning has been previously painted, then any form of wax or colour restorer will be ok on it. For the mudguards etc, something like "back to black" after a good jetwashing or scrubbing clean with an anti bacteral soap (or hibiscrub), as they can get discoloured with verdigris. The hard part can be getting at the middle of the roof!

You can get good results I did a gf's IW trailer before she sold it, lifted the matting jet washed it put some antibacteral powder down to freshen it, jet washed/scrubbed the inside to remove the poo marks, jet washed the outside picked up a colour restorer/wax from Halfords for the same colour, and being really anal cleaned the galvanised fittings with WD40. It made it look brand new, the only things that gave it away were general wear on the fittings and ramps. Sad I know...but quite satisfying!

Thank you for your reply! How did you get round all the fitting and mud guards? Did you take them off or just go round them as best you could? Wat did you use to get in all the nooks and crannys? lol.

Sorry for the late reply...
Jet wash shifted most of the dirt, the rest I used a washing up brush with a plastic "scraper" on the back of it, but it wasn't that bad that I needed to take it apart.

Sorry... had to literally laugh out loud at your need to write; Obviously this is a different model.... Just thought that was very funny!

I need to be clean my ifor very soon, how do you clean the inside, particulary the floor with yours?

X

Thanks Hanno.

Lol thats ok, glad that i made you smile lol. I didnt do a very good job of doing the inside of mine. Tbh i wasnt really trying tho! I just used a power washer, took the partition and rubber matting out. Power washed the inside and the left the ramps down and let it dry, took about 10 mins to dry. Not long. And then power washed the rubber matting while is was still outside the trailer, i did both sides of the matting. I only power washed the breast and breach bars and the rubber matting hanging off the bottom of the partions, all while outside of the trailer, on the floor.

I have done a pervious trailer with a bucket of water tho. Took a while to do it all but probly did a better job.

If you use a power washer its probly best to give it a scrub on the stained areas with some soapy water and then rinse off aswell.
