Bit of a thick BSJA question..

I am hoping to go BSJA sometime late next year if all goes well. I have a question for you though -
I am 12, but ride a 15.1hh, so would I go under juniors or seniors?

Not sure but atm you may be too young for seniors and the horse too big for juniors.

Bad news your pony too big for your age. You need 148 pony (14.2hh) max or you need to be 14 to ride in seniors with this size horse.

If you email BSJA they might say im wrong but my daughter is 12 and she does it on a 14.1 and i have never seen anything bigger in her classes

The horse MUST compete in seniors...the rider would have to be a Junior Associate member to ride in seniors...but I fear they are too young at 12 to be allowed that status

I *think* you need to be 13 (or if not then 14) to be a Junior Associate

yes 13 yo is the youngest age - a girl at mine had to wait till she was 13 - she rides a 16.2 x

Ah right that would make sense, as the person who owned the horse before us was 14

I am 13 on saturday anyway, so I would probably go affiliated around that time next year!

Actually, to quote the BSJa website :-

"Junior Associate Membership

Is available from the beginning of the calendar year in which the age of 13 is reached, until the end of the calendar year in which the age of 16 is reached"


Sooooo, it is actually possible to be a Junior Associate at age 12...so long as you are 13 later in the same year

was going to say as soon as you are inegliable for 12h2s you can ride horses in senior classes i.e from jan 1st the year in which you are 13.

if you have a good farriar you could try to get it 148

13 for junior associate, then you cna compete in senior classes that are open to junior associate members (which is most of them), whens your birthday............hoepfully its not too long to wait!
