Bit of advice, to show or not to show?

Basically, there is a show at our yard on Sunday now as much as it is a local show you do get some very good competition.
They're doing a few WH classes and I'd love to have a go but am pretty concerned that I'll come stone dead last. Now I know that it's about the taking part and it'll be something different to do but I am really worried that I'll just get laughed at!
My girl has a really good jump and in a real life situation would be (in my opinion) a fantastic hunt horse. However I'm really worried about the "show" part, she's not very well schooled- doesn't bend or go in an outline but is polite and responsive. looking at normal WH classes all the horses seem to be these beautiful, elegant well- schooled types. And I'm really worried that people will just laugh at me and my hippo of a horse.
I don't want to win by any means but similarly don't want to make a fool of myself and waste my time.

Am I just being pathetic? Someone tell me to get a grip!

Get a grip if she jumps well you certainly wont be last and handsome is as handsome does many a pretty pretty horse will not jump a pole on the ground so give it a go you have nothing to lose and a lot to gain. Lets face it someone has to be last but I will bet if you can get a clear round you will be in the placings

In all seriousness - enter and enjoy! You know your "weakness" so to speak so you shouldn't get any surprises re judging - depending what you are up against mind you! - but it will be great experience for both you and your girl...good luck!

If you can get round the jumps you'll certainly not come last. Don't stress it, work out a simple show beforehand and it will be fine. Other people will be stressing about their own horses, not watching yours.

I'm sure you will be fine. I entered a showing class once not knowing you needed an individual show! I came seventh out of seven. If your horse has a nice jump and gets from fence to fence the other competitors should take you seriously. And if you get nervous just imagine the judge on the toilet !!
