Well, we're not 100% there, but neither am I tearing my hair out as I was.

We've tried a few 'devices' none of which worked, and spent hours pacing backwards and forwards trying to make her understand that pulling gets her nowhere. I just get a vacant expression with her. BUT we've had the most positive outcome with the half check collar (the half chain one works better than fabric). When excited (meeting other dogs) she still pulls but calms down more quickly and will walk with a slack lead - although still not at heel. We're working on it!

She's wearing a muzzle in public, which gets me lots of filthy looks. But it does the job!

I took her to the east coast at the weekend, am still getting her used to travelling. No sickness either way, and she was able to sit in the back of the car (as opposed to being in her crate in the boot) for small journeys.
Unfortunately I forgot both her half check collar and lead. So had to walk her in her travel harness and buy a cheap 'extendable' lead there - the lead snapped within minutes.

She ran on the beach with other dogs, played IN the sea (she hates water normally!) and ran around for hours. She was good with all the people - I'd forgotten it was half term for some kids and unfortunately it was busier than anticipated. One heart in mouth moment when some daft woman let her toddler just waltz up and grab her - which resulted in snarling and a heated exchange of words....
but on the whole she was good and coped with the crowds and walking in public.

On the second day she lunged at a man who walked past us. I was mortified and scolded her and the man walked past again, and again, and when she calmed down and stopped lungeing at him he stopped and explained he had dogs himself and gave her a little treat and let her sniff him, which i thought was good of him. I suppose it made her realise that she wasn't geting anything from him (ie no jumping away ) until she was calm and then what she got was good :D

Only a couple of piccies, the first showing how relaxed she is with the car now (she doesn't travel in the front, she was just allowed to run round the car when stationary before we left) and the second shows the lovely beach up at old hunstanton. The town is great for dog lovers as most shops allow dogs and there's some great walks.

Aw she is adorable :). I dont know all the history but it sounds like you are making progress with her. I have a little JRT that goes bonkers when out in crowds might have to invest in one of those collars / leads thingy.
