Currently ride in a French link for flat work/hacking and universal for XC/SJ with grackle. I wouldn’t have really said she holds on to her bit…she can be fussy and pull down when stressed and does pull me into a fence - hence the step up to universal. But other than that I’ve been happy thinking she was happy! Dentist has been today and said she has worn teeth as though she is grabbing the bit! Very worn… I didn’t want to change her bit but if there is anything that can prevent the wear and tear by a change in mouth piece then I’d be grateful for some suggestions…

I would get a bit fitter to assess the shape of her mouth. I don't quite understand which teeth have been worn by grabbing the bit? The bit shouldn't touch the teeth?
TBH, I didn’t get orb either! She doesn’t ever seem to avoid/grab bit at all! He said her pre molars were worn as if she was holding on to the bit???? He has just been in a course though…so may just be a bit of BS ?

Depends which groove it sits in. Is it banging on the teeth. Does your bridle fit properly. Got any photos of how your bridle fits.

My retired hunter used to do this , his teeth were so worn down that the dentist started talking about having to fill them. I did know he did it tho, constant biting and hanging on to the bit, it was a stress thing. I started riding him in a hackamore so he couldn't do it & out hunting used a Waterford which he couldn't get hold of.

Yeah, my bridle fits well and I’ve had her a year and other than the odd excited “pull” I wouldn’t have said I really notice her grabbing. I’ll try to load a photo- if H&H will let me ???
