i want to use a pelham for jumping and would like to use a breastplate with martingale attatchment is this okay?

was planning on using just one rein with D's but would consider using 2 reins if i REALLY have to! but do find it fiddly when jumping

Years ago, I had a mare that was quite strong and I rode her in a Pelham to jump, with a martingale. I had the `D` straps so as I could use one rein.
For x-c I used a snaffle with a flash noseband.

sorry forgot to answer the question, why not use the ones that you have now. Just buy some martingale stops. I have always used rubber reins.

You shouldnt use a martingale on the curb rein of a pelham, so if you use the pelham roundings you will in effect be doing this. If you want to use a martingale you should really use 2 reins.

Hi, from personal experience, a pelham is useful if you use two reins. If you use one rein and roundings it tends to have the same effect as a simple jointed snaffle, hence not the best for strong horses. Although every horse is different, try different methods and see which your horse goes best in.

so if i use 2 reins i attach the martingale to the snaffle (top) rein?

how does this work if i want the snaffle rein on the outside when i hold the reins?
