Bit recommendations

Hi,

I am looking for bit recommendations for my gelding. Currently he is in a loose ring snaffle, however I am looking for something slightly stronger for hacking/cross country as he gets pretty excited and forgets that he has breaks.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I use a wilkie for mine for jumping and XC, just gives that little bit extra without being too harsh

What sort of noseband do you use and how is he evading the bit? ie is he opening his mouth, leaning, going behind the contact?

If he is a plain cavesson then I would try a drop or a grackle before changing the bit if he is happy with it

He has a flash nose and at the moment.

I'm not 100% sure what he's doing but he extends his neck and it's like he locks his jaw against the bit
