Bit ring size

I'm looking at a new straight bar loose ring snaffle and it comes with two bit ring sizes - 6 cm and 7.5 cm (the mouthpiece is the same for both).

What difference does the ring size make please?

The smaller ring would be used either on a pony or something with a small delicate head, or as part of a double bridle.

or it could be useful for something with a narrow jaw. I had a TB who was 17 hh but had a narrow jaw. Normal rings would catch beind his jaw so bought a bridoon snaffle at the time in order to get a snaffle with the smaller rings on it.
