Bit stunned... been invited to para olympic dressage finals.

An old friend who's involved in the olympics in some official capacity has offered me a free ticket to the para dressage finals, quite out of the blue.

Now I have to start looking at train prices and times and thinking about how to get around the big city. I'm a country bumpkin sort of girl, I think I've only been to London twice, and never alone.

But, my friend is one of the best people I've ever known and I rarely get to see her. So, pleased, scared and excited.

Wow, that's great! So wish I'd managed to get tickets for something horsey at the Olympics. Unfortunately my OH was really ill in hospital at the point where they closed sales so we never even got a request in.

I'm totally green but still hope you'll have the most wonderful time.

I wonder would it be an idea to try to get a grasp of who's who before I go?

My three decades of no contact with horses also extended to never watching equestrian sports or events, in fact I avoided anything to do with horses. I probably won't have a clue what's going on.

I have 3 pairs (was nice a gave a pair to a friends mum so now 2) i am so excited. Im going to group and freestyle. Its not quite the full olympics but its very close i can't wait. I agree about learning who's who's but a few horse mags have done a bit on uk riders recently.

You need to look up the different levels of disability as well. I'm going to a final as well

no probem - I'm going to some of the dressage too so will have it all checked my theory works in practice by the time you go - have tickets to both the dressage stage of the eventing for the Olympics, and two lots of dressage for the paralympics so I can report back on how easy or otherwise it is after I've done my first trip if that helps?
