Looking for a suggestion for a bit for when horse is doing more excitable stuff as I feel I'm mauling a bit too much...

Currently it a NS double jointed eggbutt

Horse is the type that wouldn't fight all the way...but the first few strides up a fields is currently head up and in your face

Feel like I could with a tad more

Any suggestions please x

Yeah...

That was my thinking...Will there much movement compared to an eggbutt?

I'd rather not use 2 reins either...would you use roundings?

Easy answer, take the bit out. There are plenty of lovely bitless bridles out there and I’m sure you’re not one of these riders who relies on administering pain on the most sensitive part of a horse in order to control it. Problem solved and she’ll love you so much.

Never even thought about a Kineton...I've not seen one for years and years

As its not a strong horse I'm not even convinced ill even need to use it much...lack of going across fields due to the wet hasn't helped the keeness

First step I'll try the universal. Thanks

Kineton noseband.
Best for horses that bear down on the bit .

It depend how much extra you need .
What noseband do you use ?

My first try would be a Dr Bristol this is often just enough . You will find one very inexpensive on eBay .

A grackle...but not tight

And horse isn't strong strong and not struggling to pull up

Just when we change gears or horse thinks we should change gears I get head up and rah...then I feel like I'm fiddling

Just feel I could do with the ability to say..."no thank you"

I know they’re not everyone’s cup of tea for lots of reasons, but have you considered a martingale to prevent/ reduce the head going up in the first place? Presumably a standing martingale if you’re not jumping?

I have both a running and a standing (used with cavesson)

But cavesson plus excitement is basically a no
