Over the hill and far awa
I am not suggesting that this is the OP's problem, but an awful lot of riders seem to use their hands and therefore the horses mouth, to hold themselves in position and then fiddle and saw when the horse does not enjoy the experience! I can remember, vividly, being a seven year old at an old school RS (admittedly over 50 years ago now) being tod that if I needed to hold on, I should hold the saddle, not the reins, which went to the bit in the mouth of the pony! I do think we have lost a lot with loosing RS's where you were taught to ride with your seat.
