I currently ride my 7 yr old in a loose ring, aurigan french link bradoon. He seems relatively happy in this (it's my retired dressage horses bit), but I'm wondering if he'd be happier in something else.

He had very bad mouth ulcers when I got him as his teeth hadn't been done for years; they are now all gone and he's seen the dentist twice so far in the 10 months Ive had him. She is happy with his dental progress.
He also has the chiro every few months (she comes to the yard regularly, so we just hop on the list!).

The 'problem' we have is that he grinds his teeth a lot (the dentist feels that this is a habit formed from mouth discomfort), but I'm wondering if a softer bit would help.
Maybe something with a lozenge, copper or sweet iron? - he salivates quite alot, but I thought maybe a warmer, tastier bit might be more comfy for the little darling.
Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated.
Cheers

mine's a teeth grinder as well. I've got him in a loose ring french link with copper rollers and scrub board. He goes really well in it - I think he likes the copper rollers a lot. you could try something like that?

I know nothing about bitting though! just thought your post needed a response :)

I've been looking at the Sprenger KK ultra's for a while and umming about them.

I've also found a much much cheaper (!) sweet iron loose ring with a copper lozenge that I thought might suit my lad.

God, it really is a minefield lol!
